Daily mobility and socio-economic aspects of regions and their impact on the functional spatial organization of society
Nemeškal, Jiří ; Ouředníček, Martin (advisor) ; Šveda, Martin (referee) ; Mulíček, Ondřej (referee)
Population mobility is a key urban shaping element that shows the functional relationships of the urban environment through the generalization of individual movement. The mutual process whereby the structure of the city determines mobility and is subsequently modelled by it is also important for understanding processes in the suburban or metropolitan zone. The dynamics of this process not only in the Czech environment is mainly due to the developing suburbanization, which in recent decades has been attributed a leading role in the visual and functional transformation of the landscape. In addition to suburbanization, which can be perceived as a process within the urban space, today's society and economy are also influenced by two significant external forces - globalization and technological progress. Technological progress is both materialised in a wide range of physical devices and innovations and manifested in the development of a parallel digital world. Its by-product over the last two decades is the digital footprint. In its broadest sense, it can be defined as a record of activity and interactions in time, space and context. One example of a society's digital footprint is the information extracted about the geographical movement of the population from mobile phone data. The potential of this...

Commercial suburbanization in the hinterland of Prague: edge city
Nemeškal, Jiří ; Ouředníček, Martin (advisor) ; Seidenglanz, Daniel (referee)
The topic of the diploma thesis is commercial suburbanization and its relation to concept Edge city. The main objectives of the thesis are an analysis of development of commercial activities in Prague and its hinterland, evaulation of current development of commercial activities on area of Prague airport and prediction of future possibilities of development and comparison of Prague airport with a concept Edge city. First chapters deal with theoretical questions of the suburbanization and Edge city. Next chapter defines the locality of interest - Václav Havel Airport Prague. The tool used for this is development analysis of commercial activities of Prague metropolitan area. In the case study there are analyzed commercial activities at Prague airport and its hinterland and the premises for the future development. Based on this study the locality is compared with concept Edge city. For this purpose are used criteria according Joel Garreau and following concepts and sources. Although the chosen locality is not real Edge city, it is possible to find some similarities typical for its initial phase. Long-term development of Edge cities in the USA shows the possible threats and provides with learnings for the chosen locality like for instance rebuilding or conflict with residential suburbanization.
Evaluation of suburbanization in Prague's hinterland - influence on landuse and on territory function.
Bromová, Petra ; Kupková, Lucie (advisor) ; Potůčková, Markéta (referee)
Evaluation of suburbanization in Prague's hinterland - influence on landuse and on territory function The main goals of this thesis are to describe land use changes in three time periods in cadastral units Dobřejovice, Modletice and Jažlovice situated in Prague's hinterland, to evaluate their influence on the territory function and to create a database of commercial objects in this area. There is a theme introduction in the first part. Furthermore, the thesis describes methods used for the data processing. The main part of the thesis is focused on the characteristic of the area of interest and describes the detected land use and territory function changes based on spatial overlays of time series of very high- resolution image data. The outputs of this work are maps of land use in 1994, 2004 a 2007, maps of land use changes in the particular time periods and the database of the commercial objects with their utilization purpose.
Automatic extraction of buildings and imprevious areas from very high resolution data in suburban area of Prague
Horňáková, Markéta ; Kupková, Lucie (advisor) ; Potůčková, Markéta (referee)
7 Automatic extraction of buildings and imprevious areas from very high resolution data in suburban area of Prague Abstract Nowdays, when the very high resolution satellite imagery and airbone laser scanning data have became more accessible, the possibility of their use for different types of applications increased also. With a rapid development of urban hinterlands the demand to monitor these areas increases also with the goal to avoid uncoordinated construction. This work therefore focuses on an object oriented based classification in order to design its own methodological approach for the extraction of buildings and imprevious areas in selected areas of commercial suburbanization in the Prague hinterland. The aim is among others to find the classification rules for distinguishing different types of roofs and impervious areas depending on the material, shape characteristic etc. The literature overview summarizes methods of buildings and imprevious areas classification and extraction using very high resolution optical data and elevation data. Very high resolution QuickBird imagery and airbone laser scanning LIDAR elevation data and object oriented classification methods were used for and analysis of selected commercial suburbanization model areas in Prague hinterland. The proposed methodology uses...

Differentiation of commercial suburbanization in Plzeň and Olomouc metropolitan areas
Štrba, Šimon ; Koloušek, Petr (advisor) ; Špačková, Petra (referee)
The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the development of commercial suburbanization in Pilsen and Olomouc metropolitan areas between 1990 and 2018. The research of differentiation of commercial suburbanization was based on spatial data analysis, obtained from Corine Land Cover database, data from the Urban Atlas database was added in the time period 2006 - 2012. Change areas were extracted from databases within the areas of interest. Spatial data containing information about the area extent and period of origin, they were subsequently supplemented with the type of functional use (land-use). The comparison of metropolitan areas was based on the results of the analysis. The analysis showed that the main difference within the development of commercial suburbanization in the selected metropolitan areas was in the structure of functional categories. Then, there was a difference in development rate of commercial suburbanization and also in spatial distribution of commercial suburbanization within the metropolitan areas. The structure- based difference could to a certain degree be interpreted by different macro-location within the Czech Republic. There was a considerable influence of transport factor within the formation of a spatial distribution of commercial suburbanization in both MAs. Key...
Development tendencies of work localization in Prague metropolitan region: suburbanisation of quarternary functions
Klíma, Petr ; Svoboda, Peter (advisor) ; Němec, Michal (referee)
This master's thesis deals with changes of work localization in Prague metropolitan region and concentrates on the suburbanisation of quarternary functions. Goal of the presented thesis is to analyze changes of work localization in different parts of Prague metropolitan region and discuss whether suburbanization of quarternary functions exists in Prague metropolitan region and evaluate its importance through the number of jobs in the new R&D institutions. Component goals include evaluation of the structure of jobs in new R&D institutions and evaluation of the potential for formation of cooperation with the private sector, which could lead to creation of new secondary economic centres in the periphery of the Prague metropolitan region. Other component goal finds out whether the existence of new R&D institutions can lead to changes in the social structure of the periphery and to the increased demand on social, technical and transportation infrastructure. For the purpose of analysis I used data on work commuting from 2001 and 2001 censuses, data on the number of employees in R&D institutions from the Central Bohemian innovation centre and questionnaire survey, which took place among the employees of new R&D institutions in the periphery of Prague metropolitan region. In the theoretical part I discuss...
